What is an electric vehicle?
Electric vehicles are considered to be those powered exclusively by electrical energy. Hybrid-powered cars or cars that use other types of fossil fuels are not considered electric.
What is the electric vehicle card?
The vehicle card is the identification of electric vehicle users in the city of Barcelona. This card offers the possibility of recharging electricity at public points in the city located on public roads for a rate of 0 euros.
In addition, the identification of the electric vehicle card allows parking, for a fee of 0 euros, in the regulated areas of the city (green and blue spaces), according to the established regulation criteria. Parking is not allowed in the exclusive spaces for residents.

If you are a resident and have an electric vehicle, you will be able to benefit from the 0 euro rate for this vehicle in the area of residence, in accordance with what is determined by the Tax ordinance 3.12.

To have access to the advantages of having an electric vehicle, you must first obtain the electric vehicle card (virtual office of the City Council) and meet all necessary requirements.
With this card, you can recharge your vehicle for free at one hundred charging stations for a very low rate.
You will also be able to enjoy parking for a rate of 0 euros in any regulated area of the city (blue and green spaces), according to the established regulation criteria, for people residing in Barcelona with a pure electric vehicle and who pay the ITVM in the city, but in no case will you be able to park in the spaces identified as exclusive for residents on the vertical signage.
How should I operate?
Once you have parked the vehicle in the desired blue or green space, you must go to the nearest parking meter and enter the electric vehicle card to obtain a ticket for a rate of 0 euros for the maximum time determined by the regulation, which is normally 2 hours. Always check vertical signage. Despite being an electric vehicle and having a rate of 0 euros, it is essential to leave the ticket issued by the parking meter inside the vehicle.

Where can I park for free?
If you have an electric vehicle and are registered in Barcelona, you can park for free in your resident area and you can use the Green and Blue Area for a fee of 0 euros, as long as you respect the schedules and maximum regulation times and obtain a ticket or a time receipt.
You can also park for free in the blue spaces on weekdays from 14:00 p.m. to 16:00 p.m., in the green spaces on Saturdays and holidays from 20:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., and in the loading and unloading spaces on weekdays from 20:00 p.m. to 8:00. You must always consult the vertical street signs.
Where can you never park?
You can never park in areas identified as exclusive spaces for Residents. They are places that, due to their characteristics, are for the exclusive use of their residents every day of the year. You must always check the vertical signs at street level. Only residents of the residents-only area can park there.
