What is car-to-X?

How are vehicles connected to each other?
To understand how Car-to-X works properly, we must first understand how it works. Mercedes-Benz uses the vehicle as a transmitter and receiver of warning messages, in this way, as soon as the vehicle's sensors detect a dangerous situation, a warning is transmitted to the Mercedes-Benz cloud as a backend.
By fusing the data captured by the sensors, Car-to-X is able to obtain a precise image of the circumstances surrounding the vehicle, improving safety and driving comfort conditions.
In addition, Car-to-X is capable of replicating this information on the screen of the same vehicle. This same technology is the basis for the development of the autonomous driving functions that we talked about in the previous article.
How is this information sent?
This emergency is sent as a message that can be activated, for example, by activating the emergency lights at the end of a traffic jam, by detecting accidents and breakdowns, but also in case of heavy rain or fog or if there is a risk of slipping and the ABS or ESP are activated for driver safety.
As you will understand, these alert messages can be sent in countless different scenarios, however, if the driver wishes, he can also issue a warning manually if, for example, he detects an obstacle on the route.
What vehicles have the Car-to-X system incorporated?
Since 2013, some Mercedes-Benz vehicles have had this system, but this system is not established until 2016 for all Mercedes-Benz with navigation systems. If we add to this the infotainment system Mercedes-Benz (MBUX) We can get an idea of the power that the Car-to-X has.
