More exclusive, more coupe

The new GLE Coupé from Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG combines the sporty character and elegance of a coupé with the technique of the new large SUV series from Mercedes-Benz. At launch, six-cylinder diesel engines are offered in models 350 d and 400 d (fuel consumption in the combined cycle 8,0-7,5 l/100 km, CO emissions2 in the combined cycle 212-197 g/km)[1]. The combination of these groups with the new 4MATIC all-wheel drive with Torque on Demand and a wheelbase that is 60 mm shorter than in the GLE SUV guarantees a driving experience of great dynamism and great enjoyment behind the wheel. The initial list of vehicles on the market introduction date is completed with a gasoline model, the Mercedes-AMG GL 53 4MATIC+ Coupé (combined fuel consumption 9,3 l/100 km, CO emissions2 in the combined cycle 212 g/km)1. A version with plug-in hybrid drive will be available later. and a range in electric mode similar to that of the GLE SUV, sufficient for many practical use cases.

The new GLE Coupé from Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG will be shown publicly for the first time at the IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt (12/22-9/2019). These cars will be On sale in dealerships from spring 2020.

Highlights of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe:

  • The exterior design emphasizes more than ever the elegance and sporty look specific to a coupé.
  • Thanks to the improvement of aerodynamic properties, air resistance has decreased by 9% compared to the predecessor, without changing the frontal surface.
  • The suspension with optional AIRMATIC air suspension and active suspension
    E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL based on a 48 V electrical network meets very high expectations of dynamism and comfort, both on the road and off compacted roads. This system obeys a particularly dynamic adjustment, including a more direct steering ratio than in the other models in the series.
  • The interior space is an exponent of modern luxury, with pronounced sporty accents, and offers more comfortable levels of habitability than the predecessor.
  • On board the vehicle there is the most recent generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, with an intuitive operating structure and brilliant graphics in high visual quality.
  • The new Mercedes-Benz in-line six-cylinder diesel engines are the basis of a powerful and comfortable propulsion system.

Highlights of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé:

  • The AMG inline six-cylinder engine with twin supercharging and EQ-Boost function develops 320 kW (435 hp), to which an additional electrical power of 16 kW (22 hp) is added for a short period of time. The propeller has specific functions of hybrid propulsion, such as gliding.
  • The AMG-specific radiator grille with 15 vertical slats gives the vehicle an unmistakable presence.
  • AMG RIDE CONTROL+ suspension with air suspension and AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL electromechanical roll stabilization as well as progressively adjustable damping.
  • AMG DYNAMIC SELECT with seven driving programs: Slippery Road, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, Trail and Sand.
  • The transmission and suspension of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé have been developed at the Affalterbach plant to provide drivers with the level of performance and dynamism typical of AMG.
